The Bay Area Freedom Collective (BAFC) is a grassroots project to ensure that community members returning from prison are connected to the resources and support they need to be safe, healthy, and empowered as they rebuild their lives. Our community, organized by and for formerly incarcerated people, provides services that make re-entry as smooth as possible.
What’s Our Impact?
Our team works to provide support however it is needed, including:
-
Taking a Ride
During the re-entry process, many people don't have any way to get around. Our volunteers helped seven formerly incarcerated people with gate pickup, help running errands, care package delivery, and more!
-
Making a Home
Many formerly incarcerated people need support with the basics of making a home, such as finding a hotel, making rent, or paying for utilities. To date, we have helped four formerly incarcated people with these necessities.
-
Canteen Funds
BAFC helps people still cureently in prison by providing them with canteen funds so they can purchase what they need. To date, we have given over $4,000 and helped more than 10 inmates with canteen funds.
-
Everyday Necessities
It is often the llittle things on the outside that are hardest to adjust to. We help people with all sorts of everyday necesities, such a food, shelter, hygiene supplies, and transport. To date, we have spent over $8,000 on these supplies.
